Freddy & Jenni at The Olde Towne Pet Resort

I had the opportunity to photograph so many gorgeous dogs and cats at The Olde Towne Pet Resort – these next few posts will showcase some of the images.

Meet Freddy and Jenni, a brother and sister pair who were adopted by two different humans, but still get to spend lots of time together.

This is Jenny . . .

. . . and this is Freddy.

Freddy isn’t just a handsome face, he’s also a working dog.  He’s being trained as a medical assistance dog by Cooperative Paws in Vienna, Virginia.

Four wonderful dogs – Keebler, Poppy, Sassy and Ninja

Here’s how it started:  ”I’m interested in having some portraits done of my 4 little geriatric dogs.  . . . I would like to have them all together in one portrait – one is blind (and stubborn), one is a diva, the other two might respond a little better to orders but none of them is really “trained.” Am I crazy?? I’d just like to capture them all together since they’re getting older and they’re such a huge part of my life.”

And, here’s how it ended:four little dogs on deck

All four of these dogs were adopted.  Ninja and Sassy came from the Best DAWG rescue in Bethesda, MD. Poppy came from the Animal Welfare Society of Howard County and was blind when he was adopted.  They thought he’d live the rest of his life there until his adopter saw him and knew he had to join her family.  Keebler was adopted from the Orange County Animal Shelter in Chapel Hill, NC.  They couldn’t be more loved.four dog facesfour dogs standing on deck

Bear, Elliott and Quinn

Bear is beautiful blue Shar-Pei.  He is blind but you wouldn’t notice – what you would notice is the sense of calmness and “wise-beyond-his years” feeling you get just by being next to him.  And talk about photogenic!

Quinn is a soulful, Bluetick Coonhound.  She was rescued after spending part of her life surviving on her own in the woods.

Then, there is the uber-cute Elliot.  He is 35 pounds of mixed terrier –  mixed with joy, that is.

They were quite an unexpected group to photograph. They had such different personalities, and the longer I was there, them more they’d open up and let me see it.  As I left, I imagined how much fun the conversation would be around the dinner table if they could all talk.

Quinn has the most interesting markings – and a unique white dot on her forehead.
