Holiday Cards & Grapes

I have some very creative customers when it comes to holiday cards. I can’t wait to see what they come up with next – and every year it has to be something unique. We just finished a session with Henry, an adorable Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, and his people, for their holiday card this year. I’m not sure if I’m going to show this years yet, so let me show you last years.

His owners are wine aficionados and it was clear the card would have a wine-related theme. So, we decided to tell a story with pictures – this was a six-sided tri-fold card.

Even though they said I could, I can’t bring myself to show this years card – it’s gonna be great and I don’t want to spoil the surprise!  So, here’s a sneak peek:

Holiday Cards & a few new/old images

We’ve been busy working on holiday card designs and getting ready for all the fun and creative cards for this season.  Here is a sneak peak of a card featuring Treasure and his little human, Camryn.  These were taken at the beginning of the year when we had a few really nice snow falls.  (If you are ever interested in snow pictures, you can get join our “on call” list for a snow day.)

A lot of this session was never added to the blog.  When I saw them again and we made selections for the holiday card, I thought they were too cute to pass up.   This one is Treasure watching Camryn make a snow ball.

Treasure was less than a year old and still very puppy-like.  He couldn’t resist the opportunity to steal Camryn’s glove.

I think this last image really captures what’s it’s like to have both kids and dogs.  It makes me smile every time!

Wild Pony Beach Walk

It started with a 3:45 am wakeup call.  It was pouring down rain.  We waited until 5:00 am to see if it would stop.  It did.  So, out we went to Assateague to watch the “wild pony beach walk” where they herd the wild horses down the beach prior to their swim to Chincoteague later this week.

We were surprised to be greeted with a beautiful sunrise.

Then we waited, and waited, and waited . . . and waited some more.

Finally, we saw some movement down the beach . . .

The herd is surrounded by folks on horses called “Salt Water Cowboys”.  They keep the herd together and moving down the beach.Chincoteague beach walk

The helicopter had a great vantage point.HelicopterChincoteague herd

Every once in a while a horse would separate from the herd.  This was a short ocean “chase” . . .Horse in ocean

. . . and this was a short swamp “chase”.Horse roundup in swamp

There were a lot of foals in the group.  In fact, at least once, each of these foals broke away from the herd and had the cowboys rounding them up.

This little guy was particularly persistent.

We had romantic visions of seeing the horses running wild down the beach, and while that didn’t exactly happen, it was amazing to experience part of the Chincoteague wild pony event that happens every year.

Suzanne Fauber – pet-friendly Realtor

I had the opportunity to photograph Suzanne and another of her dogs a few years ago and I love it when I get to see past customers again.

Meet Suzanne Fauber and her dog Scout.  Suzanne is a realtor in northern Virginia who understands how important animals are in our lives.  Scout entered Suzanne’s life in August 2007. She was given to Suzanne from a former client’s son and daughter who felt it was in the best interest of  Scout to  have her become part of a family that had more flexibility and already had animals.  Scout fit right in!  Believe it or not, Scout even sponsors her own softball team!
