Longhorns in the Snow – Part 2

Here are a few more images from my outing with the incredible longhorns.  This is the big daddy of the group:

I was surprised to see a blue-eyed cow:

They are very social animals and seem to enjoy each other.  Here are two young cows that stuck pretty close together:

They are also very careful with their horns – they have a great sense of where they are at all times.

Longhorns in the Snow – Part 1

Before the second big snow storm, I had the opportunity to photograph longhorns (here in Virginia) with Kathy Winkler, a wonderful local artist who specializes in painting longhorns, though she also takes commissions for other animals including dogs and cats.

I’m a big fan of the bovine so I jumped at the chance.  Here are a few of the images, I’ll post more later.  The thing that struck me about them is they are very family oriented.  They welcomed us, but kept a watchful eye.  It is calf season, after all.
