Here are a few more images from my outing with the incredible longhorns.  This is the big daddy of the group:

I was surprised to see a blue-eyed cow:

They are very social animals and seem to enjoy each other.  Here are two young cows that stuck pretty close together:

They are also very careful with their horns – they have a great sense of where they are at all times.

I love cows and to be able to be so close to these guys and have them be so comfortable was truly amazing.  Thanks for stopping by!

Before the second big snow storm, I had the opportunity to photograph longhorns (here in Virginia) with Kathy Winkler, a wonderful local artist who specializes in painting longhorns, though she also takes commissions for other animals including dogs and cats.

I’m a big fan of the bovine so I jumped at the chance.  Here are a few of the images, I’ll post more later.  The thing that struck me about them is they are very family oriented.  They welcomed us, but kept a watchful eye.  It is calf season, after all.

We had a wonderful year with some sad endings, some happy beginnings, and lots of special memories.
