Ben, the amazing dog (you have to read it to believe it)

This is Ben.  He was born in November 2005 at the Alexandria Animal Shelter.  His mother is a purebred boxer who was rescued from Hurricane Katrina while pregnant.  His father was believed to be a hound of some sort, maybe a beagle.

Ben was born lame in the back legs, unable to walk.  He slowly taught himself to walk while in the shelter.  But, because of his odd gait which persists to this day, and despite the tremdous efforts of the shelter staff, no one would adopt him.  After 1.5 years in the shelter, he was adopted to his new home in May 2007.  He has virtually no physical limitations – he climbs stairs, runs very fast and likes to play outside and go for rides in the car.  He loves to play and generally has a toy near him or in his mouth – and loves to be chased when he has a toy.  You’ll see a lot of these characteristics in the images we created.

Per his owner, “he loves to burrow in and under blankets, and we often find him completely covered in his bed”.  Let the burrowing begin.Beagle Mix with blanket

Ben is a true success story and we were very lucky to meet him!
