Have you ever seen Fried Green Tomatoes? The cat I photographed recently, Sipsie, is named for one of the characters in the movie. Here’s Sipsie’s story as told by her mom:
“Sipsie was rescued from Animal Control in Summerville, SC in 1996 by my best friend, Andrea. Incidentally, it was the day was supposed to be “destroyed”…they only kept animals for 3 days. So, my friend Andrea rescued her, nursed her back to health (She was malnourished, mites had eaten through her ears and she was missing a lot of fur), and named her Sipsie (name was from Fried Green Tomatoes). A nice southern name for a southern kitty. I adopted her from my friend since her landlord would not let her have animals. It was love at first sight! She then became a “military dependant” and has lived in Alamogordo NM, Albuquerque NM, Norfolk VA, San Antonio TX, Frederick MD and now Potomac Falls VA. In her younger years, Sipsie was quite the social butterfly. Her best friend used to be a dog from our neighborhood and we called her a “cog” for a while J Now she’s older and in declining health, but she still loves lots of attention, her scratching post, and treats.”
She was wonderful to photograph and the result of the session will be a coffee table book featuring Sipsie. Below are some of the images from the session and here’s a link to the book.
